These raku ornaments are fired to 1700 degrees. We then drape buffalo fiber on top of the piece while it is above 1200 degrees. Bison hair pottery is typically a low fire clay is used to create the vessel or shape to be decorated. It is removed from the kiln around 1700 degrees Fahrenheit and the bison hair is applied to the piece. This carbonizes the hair permanently to the piece. We then seal the surface with a gloss for elegance.
